The Titan was a submersible operated by OceanGate for deep-sea tourism to view the Titanic wreckage. On June 18, 2023, it lost contact with its surface ship about 1 hour 45 minutes into its descent, carrying five people. This sparked a massive four-day search and rescue operation in the North Atlantic.
